SPG Resourcing is opening a Manchester office as the Leeds-based recruitment business steps up its international expansion across the US, UAE and other global markets.

The company has appointed Dylan Lancaster as divisional director to establish the operation and drive growth in deep technology recruitment, with a particular focus on robotics and artificial intelligence.

Lancaster joins from Ace Partners and brings international recruitment experience to the role. He previously spent four years in Dubai building recruitment operations before returning to the UK. His appointment will drive the growth of a new team in Manchester and enhance the company’s ability to tap into the city’s talent and support growth across international markets.

Sam Hameed, managing director of SPG Resourcing, said: “Manchester is an important next step in our growth. It gives us a base in one of the UK’s strongest technology cities and puts us in a better position to build our international business. We already see significant opportunities in the US and the UAE, but our ambitions extend beyond any single market. We want SPG Resourcing to become a global operator, and that means building specialist teams with the networks and experience to work internationally.

“Dylan understands deep-tech recruitment, has experience building businesses overseas, and knows how to develop relationships in new markets. His appointment gives us an experienced leader to build Manchester while supporting our growth internationally.”

The new office will initially focus on deep technology, with SPG Resourcing targeting companies in areas such as robotics and AI.

A key part of Lancaster’s role will involve developing relationships with venture capital firms investing in US technology businesses. The strategy is designed to give SPG Resourcing access to startups at an early stage in their development, when recruiting specialist technical and leadership teams can be critical to growth.

Lancaster said: “Deep technology companies are competing for people with very specific skills, and that competition is international. A robotics or AI business in the US may need to look well beyond its local market to find the right person, which creates an opportunity for recruiters with genuinely international networks.

“I spent four years building recruitment business in Dubai and wanted my move back to the UK to be an opportunity to build again. SPG Resourcing has the ambition to grow internationally and the freedom to go after those markets.

“Manchester is a great place to do that from. It has a strong technology and investment community, but our client base will not be defined by geography. We will be working with VCs and their portfolio companies in the US, alongside businesses in the UAE and other international markets.”

The Manchester launch comes as SPG Resourcing invests in specialist divisions as part of its growth plans. The company recently launched a life sciences practice as it moves into sectors where demand for highly skilled talent is growing.
