South Milford-based equestrian bedding manufacturer UNIBED has been named official bedding supplier for the Cornbury House Horse Trials in Oxfordshire, one of the UK's leading events on the eventing calendar.
The trials, held at the Cornbury Park estate in the Cotswolds, run from Wednesday 9 September to Sunday 13 September and feature dressage, cross country and show jumping, alongside the Howden Way Youth Championships showcasing the country's emerging riders. The event hosts the full roster of international and British Eventing classes.
UNIBED, based near Selby, is a family-run business producing equestrian bedding from straw sourced from Yorkshire farmers, handling everything from production through to delivery. The company already supplies British Showjumping.
Jessica Vickers, commercial and operations director at UNIBED, said the partnership represented "something bigger than simply supplying bedding." She said: "There's still a lot of hesitation across the equestrian industry, particularly at events, about making a change from more traditional bedding options. And I completely understand why — when horse welfare is involved, quality and performance simply cannot be compromised.
"But our work with British Showjumping has illustrated that a change in equine bedding can – and does – work. The team there thoroughly trust our product to deliver everything they need, while also making a more environmentally conscious choice for their competitions."
She added that the move by David Howden CBE and the Cornbury team showed "you don't have to compromise when it comes to either environmental impact or horse welfare," and thanked Rachel Woodward and the Cornbury team for "helping us show equestrians that there are more sustainable options out there."
A spokesperson for Cornbury House said: "UNIBED High-Performance Equine Bedding produces premium bedding solutions that combine exceptional performance with an unwavering commitment to sustainability. By overseeing every stage of production, from responsibly managed harvests through to advanced manufacturing and final delivery, UNIBED guarantees outstanding quality, consistency and traceability.
"With horse welfare at the heart of everything they do, their highly absorbent, low-dust bedding creates a cleaner, more comfortable stable environment that supports health, wellbeing and performance."
