More midweek action is coming from all around the sporting and Yorkshire landscape, with drama and intrigue on all fronts.

From the pitch to the oche, there is so much to look forward to from Monday to Friday once again.

Monday 13th April Premier League: Manchester United v Leeds United 20:00

We kick things off with a heated exchange across the Pennines as Leeds look to get a first league win over old enemies Manchester United since 2002 in the hunt for top-flight survival.

When the fixtures were released, most Leeds fans eagerly anticipated their meetings with the Red Devils, and now the time has come to potentially secure their survival at Old Trafford.

The Whites come into this off the back of a stunning FA Cup quarter-final against West Ham in which Leeds squandered a 2-0 lead in injury time before ultimately making it through to the semi-final of the FA Cup for the first time in almost four decades on penalties.

Daniel Farke’s men still have a lot to do in order to feel safe in the Premier League, though, with just four points separating them in 15th and West Ham in the relegation zone. They remain desperate for a win too, with the last victory in the league coming in a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in early February.

Hoping to continue their barren run in the Premier League is Manchester United, a side that has not played for over three weeks since they too squandered a winning position to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth.

Despite the dropped points last time out, United have looked a much better side since club icon Michael Carrick took the helm, only losing once in their last ten matches.

Their uptick in form has seen them climb back to the upper echelons of the league table, in which they now find themselves in third place but with Aston Villa hunting them down and one point behind.

A win for the Red Devils would help cement their place in Champions League qualification, but they will have to fight hard against a Leeds side looking for their first Old Trafford victory in 45 years and more room to manoeuvre away from a place in the dreaded relegation spots.

Tuesday, 14th April Skybet EFL League One: Huddersfield Town v Cardiff City 19:45

The John Smiths Stadium plays host to a titanic battle in the league. One this week, as second-placed Cardiff look to extend their stay in the automatic promotion places against a Terriers side fighting to enter the top six.

Last week saw Lincoln City confirm their spot in the Championship next season, meaning only one automatic promotion spot is up for grabs, and Cardiff look in pole position to clinch it. With 81 points accrued after 41 games, they have a ten-point gap to Bradford in third and now have a real chance to continue extending the gap with a win over a potential playoff contender.

Two losses from their last seven are also encouraging signs for a Cardiff side that many see as being too good for the third tier, but the wins have started to dry up, with only two matches won from those seven, with a 4-0 win over Exeter and most recently a 2-0 home victory over fourth-placed Bolton Wanderers.

That Bolton win will no doubt fill the Welshmen with confidence, but they must continue to find winning ways for more comfort at the top, which could be a tough task against the Terriers, who also find themselves on a relatively positive run of one loss in seven.

Victories have been similarly hard to come by for Huddersfield, who have only managed to get three points once since mid-March; a 2-1 away win over Leyton Orient has been the best result in a run that has been dominated by stalemates.

It was much of the same at the weekend, when the Terriers visited Wycombe Wanderers and failed to capitalise on going ahead twice to eventually draw the match 3-3.

At this stage of the season, drawing is not what is needed for the Terriers to make a late charge for the playoffs, as they need to win almost all of their remaining fixtures to offset their five-point gap to Stevenage in sixth.

A win over Cardiff would be a huge statement in their chase and could set up a dramatic end to the season for a side that has been expected to return back to the second tier.

Thursday, 16th April BetMGM Premier League: Luke Littler v Gerwyn Price: 18:10

The first match of this week’s Premier League is an absolute corker as world number one Luke Littler looks to retake the summit of the table against former world champion Gerwyn Price.

Last week in Brighton saw Jonny Clayton continue his epic run in the league by beating Michael Van Gerwen 6-5 in a dramatic final to seal his third nightly win.

His wins from last night put him three points above Luke Littler, who now needs to put in a statement in Rotterdam to offset his quarter-final exit.

The ex-league leader could not fight off Stephen Bunting, who put in a shock performance, managing to get over the line and winning 6-4. The situation was similar the week before when Van Veen, acting as the aggressor, knocked The Nuke out in the opening round.

The recent fall-off has been a far cry from his usual form, which has seen him win 14 matches from 21 whilst picking up three nightly wins of his own.

Gerwyn Price will be looking to extend The Nuke’s barren run in a match that could also be pivotal for his hopes of a top finish.

The Welshman is two points away from Littler in third place and five from the top spot but again had an early bath last week when beaten handsomely 6-3 by Josh Rock.

This was once again a shock result for Price, who picked up points the night prior by reaching the final and becoming the eventual winner in a convincing 6-2 scoreline over Van Veen.

The Iceman's win was his second of the season, but he could have had more if he hadn't lost to Littler in week seven's final.

Revenge could now be on the cards for the Welshman, but with both coming into this match off the back of low points last week, anything could happen in an opening round that could signal big change at the top of the league.

Friday 17th April Betfred Super League: Huddersfield Giants v Leeds Rhinos 20:00

We round the week off with a Yorkshire derby in Super League as the Giants host a Leeds Rhinos side looking to remain in the top two and push for first place.

Huddersfield have had a stop-start 2026 campaign, starting things off on a terrible run which saw them only win their opening Challenge Cup match against Hunslet in February and then fail to win any of their first five matches in Super League.

A five-match losing streak signalled to many that the Giants were in for another slow year, finishing 10th in 2025. Many expected that with a newly expanded league, Huddersfield would be more adept and have a chance to rise up the table.

That seemed to be a pipe dream in the opening months, as they went on to lose heavily to Hull KR and fellow strugglers Castleford as well as taking beatings from Catalan Dragons, Wakefield and Bradford.

With things looking bleak in West Yorkshire, Huddersfield have seemingly turned a corner and miraculously managed to pick up back-to-back victories. Firstly, a stellar performance against titans Wigan Warriors saw them score a flurry of first-half tries to set them up for a surprise 34-16 scoreline.

It was then onto newly promoted York Knights, who have made a good early impression on Super League but were no match for a Giants side now full on confidence. It was another big score for Huddersfield, who once again put away a multitude of points to win 34-14.

For Leeds, this season has also been one of surprises but more positive, as Rhinos find themselves fighting in the top two, having made an early impact with statement wins.

The biggest statement was their 58-6 battering of defending quadruple winners Hull KR in Las Vegas. After they returned, they also beat bitter rivals Castleford but then went on to lose back-to-back matches against Wakefield in the Challenge Cup and Hull FC in a return to league action.

Since that slight blip, it was back to winning ways in a dramatic 26-22 victory over current front runners Warrington Wolves and a vital rival round win away at the Odsal against Bradford.

Their return to form has propelled them to second place, positioning them well to make progress for the remainder of the season, either within the top two or the top six.

Both sides will be hoping for a win to continue their good fortunes, and it is up to them to either see another shock from the Giants or bring the Rhinos back down to earth.
